We've had this Bible story in our collection for quite a while, but it isn't one we've read very often.  In fact, none of the Psalm 23 stories have ever been favorites of either of my children.  Perhaps it is because it doesn't have a concrete storyline like most of the Bible stories we read to them.

The Good Points:

  • The words are straight from the King James version of the Bible. (Though this might be difficult for children to understand)
  • The illustrations are beautiful, though perhaps more pleasing to adults than children.
The Discrepancies:
  • There are no discrepancies. The text is straight out of the Bible.
Well, this was a short review!  It's hard to say much when the text is word for word from the Holy Book.  Is this worth having in your library?  Yes. I really love the illustrations. However it's also just as easy to read this psalm from any Bible you already have, plus you can have your choice of translation to make sure your children understand it.  I've read this book to my kids when they were 3 years old, but I doubt they understood it at that age.  If you want better comprehension, perhaps ages 5-9 would be more appropriate.
