Wow, I'm reviewing a book that is still available for purchase. Considering that most of my books have come from thrift stores, that's pretty rare for me!  To be honest, I'm not very familiar with this book. We had two other Creation stories (only one now, since the other one didn't make the cut) and my kids regularly pick those instead of this one.  I know the Arch books range in quality from excellent to poor, so I honestly don't know where this book will fall.

The Good Points:

  • This arch book stays very true to the Bible
  • The pictures are colorful and eye catching
  • The book is written in rhyme to make it fun to read and easy to memorize.
  • The story ends by trying to tie this story to Jesus.
  • The final page in the book is a note to parents suggesting ways they can explore God's creation with their children.

The Discrepancies:

  • This book focuses entirely on Genesis 1.  While it does mention that God created Eve, it skips the rest Genesis 2, including Adam naming the animals and seeking a helper.
Wow, I think this book may be even better than the Alice in Bibleland version, and I always have very high regard for the Alice series.  Arch did a great job with this book. It's a good solid story and worthy of anybody's collection.  I'll be sure to read it to my kids soon and see what they think of it too.  I don't recall if I've ever actually read it to them before. Arch recommends its books for ages 5-9, but I read them to my kids as young as age three.
